The United States is facing a significant shortage of trained, skilled cyber security professionals. It is crucial that governments and businesses and not-for-profits have access to talented, skilled cyber security professionals in order to keep the nation's Internet-connected economy safe.
Maybe you! Many young people haven't had the opportunity to find out if they have cyber talent, often because their schools didn't offer technology courses. Or you may already be interested, but haven't figured out how to get the proper training to qualify for a job in the cybersecurity field.

In the fall of 2018, the Cyber Fast Track will launch for all eligible Maryland community college students. Students who excel in CyberStart Game will win full scholarships for CyberStart Essentials, the fast-paced, online course that allows them to master seven IT subjects that form the foundation of successful technical cybersecurity careers.
Students who complete the Essentials course and get a solid grade on its exam will be eligible for $15,000 scholarships for two advanced SANS cybersecurity courses - the same courses used by financial institutions, intelligence agencies and the military to develop their top cyber talent.
To be eligible for the scholarship, students will pass a background check and be interviewed by participating employers. Candidates rated by the employers as having the maturity to become productive professionals will be awarded Maryland Cyber Fast Track scholarships.
Cyber Fast Track is a SANS Institute program enabled by funding from the Maryland Department of Labor Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) Earn Program. Montgomery College and 13 Maryland employers are helping to make the program successful.
